Planning a Nursery... Step 1: Create a Mood Board
Our family is beyond excited for our youngest daughter and son-in-law as they await the arrival of their first child! Planning a nursery is always a "mommy highlight", so I was very touched when my daughter asked me to help her. She knew that she wanted to continue using some of the same federal style furniture she includes in other rooms of their traditional home. Consignment shopping is one of our favorite pastimes, so the hunt began for a chest of drawers and a dresser which could double as a changing table. Fortunately, these two pieces pictured on the mood board above were the first items she purchased. It's amazing what two women in a SUV can accomplish!!
A "wish list" of furniture and accessories was made and then we both began collecting photos of possibilities. She fine tuned her nursery theme once she knew the baby would be a boy, finally deciding on a Ralph Lauren type look which would include neutral colors mixed with greens and navy, hunting dogs, and of course some pheasants! Monograms were a must, so a pillow in a neutral color will work with any decor as this little one grows.
Step 2: The fun part begins! Painting, Shopping, shopping, and more shopping!
